Montessori Toddlers

VIVEK HIGH SCHOOL, CHANDIGARH INTRODUCES THE MONTESSORI TODDLERS PROGRAMME FROM APRIL 15, 2015

“The most important period of life is not the age of university studies but the first one, the period from birth to age six. For this is the time when man’s intelligence itself, his greatest implement is being formed. But not only his intelligence: the full totality of his psychic powers… at no other age has the child greater need of an intelligent help and any obstacle that impedes his creative work will lessen the chance he/she has of achieving perfection.”
– Maria Montessori, creator and founder of the Montessori Method

Vivek High School has been a path breaker from the time of its inception in 1984. The foundation for a progressive, inclusive, education was based on the vision of our Founder, Sardar Bhagwant Singh. A vision that saw education as being joyful, where values and traditions would be upheld, where the quest for knowledge, self advancement and enhancement would be the goal of every student at the school, who in turn, would be nurtured by educators imparting knowledge and skills based on international best practices.

More than three decades later, the same vision and commitment to best practices is being reiterated with the introduction of “Montessori Toddlers’ for children between the age of 1½ – 2½ years. Montessori Toddlers is under the able guidance of Ms Meenu Sahi, who introduced the same at Vivek High School, Mohali in 2014, to great success.

World over, the Montessori method of education is recognised as one which nurtures self education through self discovery and self correction with purposeful work to develop the five senses in children through multi – sensory materials that develop specific skills.

This blends in beautifully with the philosophy and ethos of Vivek High School which imparts education by providing opportunities for self discovery, multiple channels for self expression and a larger structured environment which encourages independence within it.

This pedagogy is essentially a model of human development geared towards nurturing children into more peaceful, respectful and thereby helping to create a gentler, kinder world.
