Shaurya Karmakar – Grade 12
Shaurya Karmakar (Grade 12) is a budding scientist, passionate technologist, and proud innovator from our school. Currently studying Artificial Intelligence at school, and having been associated with Atal Innovation Mission in the past, Shaurya constantly applies his learning to solve real-world problems through technology.
One of his most impactful innovations is “AWAKE – The Road Guardian”, a machine learning–powered drowsiness detection system designed to make roads safer. Inspired by a personal encounter with a drowsy driver, Shaurya developed a prototype using Raspberry Pi and a web camera to monitor drivers’ facial cues in real time. His custom-trained ML model detects signs of fatigue and issues immediate alerts, helping prevent accidents. With its affordability, accuracy, and accessibility, AWAKE has the potential to save countless lives, especially in areas where advanced in-car safety tech is unavailable.
Beyond AWAKE, Shaurya has also worked on NeuroSole, a smart health-tech solution. By creating an affordable and portable solution, Shaurya envisions NeuroSole as a tool that can not only assist diabetic patients but also help doctors with preventive care through continuous monitoring. His project stood out for its social utility, scalability, and innovative use of AI, earning him the USD 4,000 grant from Emergent Ventures, Mercatus Center (George Mason University, USA) to take his research forward. He has previously developed a waste bin dehydrator to improve hygiene for garbage collectors and continues to explore robotics, game development, and AI-driven solutions.
Shaurya’s passion has earned him recognition at national and international levels—he won 3rd prize in the Sweden-India Nobel Memorial Insta Reel Challenge, mentored students under the Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, and has engaged in community service projects to support special school children.
With his vision, creativity, and dedication, Shaurya is not just learning technology—he is shaping it into solutions with social impact, truly embodying the spirit of a future innovator and changemaker.
Rahul Walia – Grade 6
At just 11 years old, Rahul Walia of grade 6 of our school is already turning heads in the world of technology and aviation. A brilliant student and a proud member of the school’s AI and Robotics Club, Rahul has earned over 100 certificates in technology, business, and innovation—showcasing his passion and determination at a very young age.
Rahul is the creator of “AeroSpec”, a groundbreaking project designed to improve airline safety. Aircraft are usually checked manually, which leaves room for human error. AeroSpec uses smart detection systems to identify flaws such as corrosion, cracks, and structural damage in airplanes, reducing risks and alerting airlines before problems occur. With its potential to save lives and improve efficiency, AeroSpec has now been selected for continued research under the guidance of Dr. Abdullah Al-Salmani, a leading professor in Dubai. This mentorship gives Rahul the unique opportunity to advance his innovation alongside older, highly experienced participants.
Beyond AeroSpec, Rahul is a prolific blogger and writer, with a strong passion for aviation, business, and technology. He dreams of one day creating the world’s best and safest airline.
Rahul has also proven his talent in competitive platforms—he recently(10th of August 2025) won 2nd place in the Middle School Coding Competition at Strawberry School, earning a cash prize of ₹1100. He was also the youngest participant at the Dubai AI Summer Program, where most other participants were high school or college students. His ability to shine in such advanced programs highlights his exceptional potential.
With his vision, creativity, and international recognition, Rahul is emerging as a young innovator in aviation and AI, inspiring peers and proving that passion and hard work can make dreams take flight.
Along with Shaurya Karmakar, Rahul Walia represents the spirit of innovation, showing how curiosity and creativity can open doors to global opportunities.
