Educational trip to The Land of the Rising Sun- Japan
From 27 May to 4 June 2025, a group of 34 students and 4 teachers from our school went for an unforgettable educational journey to one of the most fascinating countries in the world- Japan! It was a science-based, educational trip in which we encompassed everything about the nation. It not only gave educational insights about the technology, scientific advancements and innovation, but also learnt about their rich history and culture. We explored four major cities: Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto and Hiroshima, each offering a unique experience.
Our journey began in Tokyo, where we spent three nights. We were mesmerized by the enormous skyscrapers and brilliant road engineering! On our very first day, we had the incredible opportunity to witness the vast expanse of Tokyo from the observation deck of the world’s tallest tower — the Tokyo Skytree.
At the Tokyo Science Museum, we delved into exciting topics like cosmology, computer science, geology, and robotics. Witnessing the natural beauty of Mt.Fuji and Lake Aashi was blissful! During the 3-hour journey to Mt. Fuji, we passed through the Subaru Stretch — a specially engineered road with grooves that produce a Japanese melody when vehicles drive over them. Hearing the melody left us even more amazed by Japan’s creativity and innovation!
We returned to our hotel in Tokyo from Mt. Fuji on a bullet train that uses magnetic levitation, reaching speeds of up to 320 km/h! We ended the day experiencing the liveliness of Shibuya Crossing.
Our visit to Hiroshima — the site of the world’s first atomic bombing — gave us a powerful insight into how politics, war, and the creation of such devastating weapons can profoundly affect human lives. It was disheartening to see how much damage the bombing had caused, and the stories of the people brought to us a deeper understanding of that perspective.
Next, we travelled for five hours to Osaka. Next day, we took a short trip to the historic city of Kyoto. Kyoto is one of the Japan’s ancient cities, where we saw houses of Samurai that have been existing since the 4th century! We learnt about and learned about Japanese monarchy, samurai warfare, and ninja techniques. Then we walked through the Teramachi street which was a shopping arcade and picked up souvenirs. Later we attended a Japanese tea ceremony, where we tasted the most authentic Matcha tea!
One of the major highlights of our trip was spending an entire day at Universal Studios in Osaka! The thrilling rides, Harry Potter world’s butter beer and Nintendo world made our trip even more memorable. During our evenings in Osaka, we often visited the lively Shinsaibashi-Suji shopping street, not just to shop, but to enjoy its vibrant atmosphere! We also visited the aquarium in Osaka, where we saw the beautiful marine animals including octopuses, squids, sea horse, dolphins, hammerhead sharks, sea lions, seals, penguins, sea otters, the gentle giant: Whale Shark and various other types of fishes!
Another unforgettable moment was our visit to a local school in Osaka. We made new friends, created origami, and performed a show we had been preparing for over a month. The cultural exchange was heartwarming and enriching!
Throughout the trip, we savoured delicious Japanese food, mostly using chopsticks. The best part about Japan was that the people were very kind and helpful, their sense of discipline and punctuality was praiseworthy. This trip gave us unforgettable memories with our friends that we will cherish for a lifetime. Along the way, we learned the importance of punctuality, discipline, helping others, managing money, and being independent and responsible. These valuable lessons helped us grow and become better versions of ourselves.
Our tour guide was very interactive and helpful, constantly sharing insightful information about the country and pointing out interesting details and fun facts throughout the journey.
We sincerely appreciate our teachers-in-charges Ms. Poorva Batra, Ms. Mandeep Sidhu, Ms. Mamta Choudhary and Ms. Bindiya Khanna for their constant support and guidance, which made the trip smooth, enjoyable, and truly memorable.
