Community Catalyst – Think, Design & Execute

Inter-House Competition(Community Catalyst – Think, Design & Execute)

On 1st August, Vivek High School came alive with creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving as students from Grades 7, 8, and 9 participated in the Inter-House “Community Catalyst – Think, Design & Execute” Competition. This unique competition invited students to identify real-life problems within their school or community and present innovative, implementable solutions. Anchored by students Vedant and Paakhi, the event opened with the inspiring words of Albert Einstein, setting the tone for a day dedicated to imagination, empathy, and action. Following a design thinking workshop held in May, participating teams had spent over two months developing their projects using the five key phases of the design thinking process: Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test & Improve. The event was judged by Ar. Shelja Gupta, a celebrated sustainable architect and founder of Designing Earth by Studio Bhoomi, and Ms. Ketaki, Elementary Coordinator –Montessori at Vivek High School, who holds an AMI-affiliated Montessori diploma and is known for her focus on inquiry-based learning. Each house brought forward thoughtful, real-world solutions: Taxila – Project: “Watts for Wins” This team presented a classroom-based energy-saving system that rewards students for switching off unused electrical appliances. By linking responsible energy use to house points, the model not only saves electricity but also fosters accountability and environmental ownership among students. Their prototype included a tracker chart and a class display board for real-time visibility.
