Adventure Camp in Bir Billing (16 November to 19 November)
Day-1 16 November, 2023
A group of 14 students, under the guidance of Ms. Reenu and Mr. Amit, embarked on an exhilarating IAYP adventure trip to Bir Billing (Kangra). Our journey commenced at 6:30 from Chandigarh, marked by enthusiasm and joy. A delicious breakfast awaited us at Gulmohar at 9 o’clock, providing a delightful start to the day. After refuelling, we resumed our journey, reaching our destination at 2:20pm. Following a satisfying lunch and a one-hour rest, we visited The Deer Park institute, which is a centre for Indian tradition and wisdom. Thereafter we walked through the local market to the ground where the paragliders land. We witnessed some amazing landings with the sun setting in the background. Returning to our Bunkster resort, a memorable bonfire session allowed the students to share their day’s experiences. Subsequently, we enjoyed a hearty dinner before retiring for the night.
Day-2 17 November, 2023
Commencing our day at 7 a.m., we kickstarted our morning with a simple yet satisfying meal of milk and biscuits followed by a delicious breakfast. At 10 am, we set off on a cycling adventure from the sunrise point, borrowed bicycles and ventured into a scenic 16-kilometer trail, immersing ourselves in the sheer beauty of the surroundings. A highlight was our visit to one of the largest monasteries ‘Sherebling’, with a peaceful ambience where we delved into spiritual insights about their culture, traditions, festivals, and the teachings of Mahatma Buddha. Resuming our cycling journey, we covered the rest of journey before returning to our resort for a well-deserved lunch and rest. The students attended a session on ‘Tent Pitching’ in the afternoon as they were required to pitch tents after the trek the next day. Thereafter, they went for a visit to the market to buy local souvenirs to cherish the memories of our fulfilling day.
Day-3 18 November, 2023
At the break of 7 o’clock, we stirred to life, greeted by a day filled with adventure. A splendid breakfast powered our energy as we embarked on a trek to Chayana Pass, covering the initial distance by bus. The 6-kilometer trek unfolded in breathtaking beauty, crossing mountains, and offering panoramic views. Reaching the peak at Hanumangarh Mandir, we captured moments frozen in time against the backdrop of scenic greatness. On our descent, we encountered snow-covered landscapes and horses, adding an extra layer of charm to our journey. A brief rest preceded a well-deserved lunch, marking the culmination of our trek at the starting point by 3 p.m. The return to our homestay was punctuated by refreshments and a few hours of rest before an evening bonfire session. With students playing guitars and singing songs, we shared our trek experiences and played Antakshari. A hearty dinner concluded our day, beckoning us into a well-earned night’s sleep.
Day-4 19 November, 2023
Day 4 began with a 7 a.m. awakening, and by 8 a.m, our journey back to school commenced. A delightful interlude at 2 p.m. saw us relishing a KFC meal, savouring the flavours of our adventure. By 5 p.m., we had returned to school, concluding a journey that proved to be enriching, filled with valuable lessons and unforgettable experiences.
