Year-end assessment project

The year-end assessment project, for Grade 11, was an opportunity for students to showcase academic perspectives in their own unique way. They were provided with a choice of being graded on either an individual seminar presentation or a dramatic interpretation (solo or paired performance). This was based on the additional texts, that were part of their syllabus throughout the year.

Saanvi Singla gave a presentation grounded in art history, analyzing Jungle Nama by Amitav Ghosh. She began talking about her research by asking her student peers why the word ‘illuminate’ had been used for the illustrations in the narrative poem, as opposed to convention, where the word illustration is used. She then shed light on the Rococo style of brush strokes and explained that while the illustrations are monochromatic, they are still able to create a sense of fluidity and movement throughout the narrative poem.

Expressive paintings and graphic novels based on Jungle Nama and Othello were presented by students Ananya Jain and Thea Gupta

Imaginative and artistic dramatic interpretation performances by Manhar Gupta, Viraj Thakur, Khushi Kapoor, Zorawar Singh Ahluwalia and Saarth Sehgal were among just a few of many that left student audiences exuberant.

As they were provided freedom to interpret the texts in their own way, students really dove into the brief and applied their critical abilities to re-work endings, analyze illustrations, comment on genres and create animations. Students used technology to support their endeavors in a meaningful way.
