ROUND SQUARE CONFERENCE- CHILE (02- 09 April)

THEME-DARE TO DREAM

A group of 6 students namely Reva Khanna, Udaibir Bal, Ayanna Das, Maira Sra, Samarvir Malik and Zorawar Singh accompanied by Dr. Nencepreet Kaur represented our school at the Round Square in Craighouse School in Santiago, Chile, The conference kicked off with an enthusiastic opening ceremony, followed by ice-breaking sessions, Barraza group introductions, and team-building games that immediately sparked friendships and a sense of unity. Delegates then spent the evening with their host families, gaining firsthand experience of Chilean hospitality. The next day, officially recognized as Internationalism Day, began with a keynote address and a colorful Chilean cultural fair on campus, where participants enjoyed traditional sweets and learned local dances. That evening, schools from around the world showcased dances from their countries in a joyful cultural celebration. The following day focused on Democracy, with students learning about Chile’s political past through engaging sessions with activists and visits to the Museum of Memory and Human Rights and the Cultural Center, offering deep insight into the country’s journey toward justice and freedom. Service Day was next, taking the group to Valparaíso, where delegates engaged in hands-on projects such as building houses for underprivileged families and planting a playground for children—an inspiring day of compassion and collaboration. This was followed by Family Day, when students spent quality time with their host families exploring Santiago’s city centre and immersing themselves in daily life and culture. Adventure Day added excitement to the experience, with half the students going water rafting on the Maipo River while the other half tackled zip-lining and team challenges at an adventure centre, pushing personal boundaries and building trust through exhilarating activities. The next day was Environment Day, where delegates visited EcoTerra, a sustainable corporation specializing in eco-friendly dairy and egg products. The visit highlighted innovative environmental practices, and students returned to school to take part in tree-planting and the construction of insect houses, reinforcing their commitment to sustainability. That evening, everyone dressed up for a magical masquerade ball, celebrating the friendships, memories, and experiences they had shared throughout the week. Finally, the conference came to a heartfelt close with a touching closing ceremony, where delegates expressed gratitude, shared reflections, and celebrated the bonds they had formed. The Round Square Conference at Craighouse School was more than just a gathering; it was a transformational journey through the IDEALS of Round Square—Internationalism, Democracy, Environmentalism, Adventure, Leadership, and Service. It left every delegate with a deeper understanding of the world, a renewed sense of purpose, and friendships that spanned continents.
